The second mysterious disc

The second mysterious disc

And they were all of them deceived for another disc was made.... well to be fair no one was deceived and no one will be surprised by the existence of a second resin disc. This time with mini rocks in it.

I spent a bit longer mixing the resin for this one, and doing it slower to reduce bubbles. I also got a more accurate mix of hardener to whatever-the-other-part-is-called, for a faster, harder result - but I do think the better curing time meant some more bubbles, despite my mixing care. However! I am not too worried about this, because through the camera lens they all add to the effect.

The "cut a slot into a block of wood" is very effective as a base. Is there truly nothing a block of wood cannot do? I really like the effect of uplighting the embedded pebbles - look how much they're glowing at the bottom of this one:

I realise this post is very similar to the last one, so something that came up just this morning as I showed these images to some friends was the idea of "inclusions/occlusions", and it's a great example of how I work back and forth between images and text. I'm currently working on text for what was a Maskwitches scenario, but is now more a guide to prepping a Maskwitches scenario of your own. It'll contain a bunch of advice gathered in the couple of years I've been playing the game with people, alongside what will hopefully turn out to be the bones of several scenarios, which you can dip into as a tool kit or an inspirational bag of good stuff.

The idea of "inclusions/occlusions" is something I want to work into that advice - those times where sometimes the GM points towards a thing, and sometimes points away from it, and what that means in a game as open as Maskwitches. Fingers crossed I can make it make sense. That's a general trend, eh?

Next up I want to try these discs with the smoke machine. Because of course.

If you've stumbled into this weird blog, you can find out more about Maskwitches and buy the books over this way.
